Fr. Daniel Bowen, O.deM

Pastoral Consultation Priest
Father Daniel Bowen, O. de M. is Vocation Director for the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy (Mercedarian Friars) in the United States of America, a ministry he has held since 2018.  Father Daniel was born and raised in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.  Following his graduation from Mayfield High School, he went on to receive his undergraduate degree in communications from Ohio University in 1992.  A convert to Catholicism from the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Father Daniel Bowen, was received into the Church on Easter 1994 at St Gregory the Great (now Sacred Heart of Jesus) Parish, South Euclid, Ohio.  Following a Teens Encounter Christ retreat, he saw the importance of putting God and faith first in his life.  He returned to the regular practice of his Catholic faith and felt a call to discern the priesthood and consecrated religious life.

In August 2006 he left his career, possessions, friends, and family and entered the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy (Mercedarian Friars).        In 2008, he professed his first vows of chastity, poverty, obedience, and redemption.  In 2013, he obtained a Masters of Arts Degree in Theology, and a Masters of Divinity at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Solemn profession and a diaconate ordination followed in 2014.  On August 15, 2015, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he was ordained a priest for his religious community at his home parish by Bishop Richard Lennon of Cleveland, Ohio.

His past ministries include: Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Mercy/St Brigid parish in LeRoy, New York, parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Parish located in Pinellas Park, Florida, and assisted in ministry at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Cleveland, Ohio.   He is thankful for all the good that God allows him to do in loving service for God and others.  Father Daniel presently lives with his local Mercedarian community at the Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and, in addition to serving as parochial vicar at the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, he enjoys reading, discussions on the faith, and playing guitar.
